We are very excited to recruit an ambitious and quick learner to join our Amsterdam Accounting and Finance team for a 12-month traineeship program. This role will provide the ideal candidate with hands-on experience in a fast growing, global biotech company. Our team in Amsterdam oversees the Ex-US accounting operational and reporting responsibilities, and we are looking for someone that is dedicated to meeting our team and company goals, while we are dedicated to helping develop this candidate to jump start their career.

During the 12-month assignment, you will be guided by your direct manager, as well as the accounting director, and will interact with multiple departments within the company. The candidate will observe the finance operations of a US listing company and learn the importance of internal controls and Sox compliance, while understanding the processes behind the monthly and quarterly close. Additionally, this role will have exposure to senior leadership team members. Accordingly, we are looking for the perfect candidate that is excited to be part of the continued success of Alnylam.

  • Supporting the Order to Cash (“OTC”) team and specifically, the billing and credit collection manager. This role will initially report into the Revenue Manager, overseeing the operational processes with our third-party distributors (3PLs).
  • Reviewing customer collections and identifying any overdue invoices requiring action. This will require effectively communicating with the various country General Managers.
  • Supporting the monthly and quarterly close process, including preparing monthly Blackline reconciliations.
  • Supporting our SOX internal control framework and preparing monthly/quarterly control procedures and documenting these controls in our IT audit system.
  • Reviewing transactions in SAP, identifying required manual journal entries, preparing the supporting documentation, and recording manual journal entries in SAP.
  • Joining the Amsterdam accounting team in weekly status update meetings and proactively supporting other team members, as needed.
  • Understanding our pricing arrangements and working directly with the market access team and country General Managers, as needed, to confirm our revenue recognition is in line with our contractual agreements.
  • Preparing various summarized financial data to present to senior leadership team members.
  • In addition to supporting the OTC team, this candidate will work directly with our country accounting team and support the Accounting Manager on specific projects, including the annual statutory audits.
  • By being involved in the annual statutory audit process, this candidate will learn how to manage external reporting requirements and the importance of internal controls around financial reporting.
  • This candidate will join our Global Accounting meetings and learn the processes required to meet US reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree (in Finance/Accounting) and either pursuing a master’s (post-master’s) degree, or entering the workforce with limited professional work experience.
  • Understanding of Accounting is required (US GAAP is a plus)
  • Desire to learn and motivation to build the foundations for a successful career.
  • Strong command of English language (verbal and written), (other European languages advantage)
