Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director, US Commercial Training & Development, the Associate Director, US Commercial Training & Development   is responsible for developing all leadership training programs and delivering operational support to customer facing roles. This will include disease state, product and other commercial processes and systems. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing and facilitating POA meetings and be able to collaborate across multiple expertise areas at Alnylam.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, and coordinate the Commercial field facing team’s leadership development plan that includes training and development opportunities for aspiring, novice, and experienced leaders. This includes developing, leading, and managing the aspiring leader programs for commercial field facing teams.
  • Develop training programs and learning and development assets that support commercial strategies and identify the needs of the commercial teams.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Commercial/Sales Operations strategies, processes, procedures, tools and how they impact sales training design, and program implementation.
  • Assess short- and long-term Commercial Training needs and competencies required to support Commercial sales growth and identify plans of action to support the training needs.
  • Ensure training effectiveness, adoption, and competency development by identifying, tracking, measuring, and monitoring Commercial Training KPIs.
  • Establish goals and learning objectives to design appropriate and effective curriculum leveraging principles of adult learning.
  • Lead the design, development, and facilitation of workshops for global, national and regional Commercial meetings.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to identify business needs proactively to develop appropriate ad hoc training appropriate for respective Commercial roles.
  • Organize and coordinate new hire training for Commercial teams including onboarding and virtual sessions.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of Commercial Training materials.
  • Develop capability assessments of commercialization efforts and design training programs to address gaps and needs.
  • Develop and execute Train the Trainer sessions.
  • Assist with the build out of continuous learning platform to offer flexible just-in-time learning that is tailored to individual development needs and minimizes time out of territory.
  • Assist in the creation and roll out of a regional field trainer program.
  • Recommend and manage external vendors to bring high quality services to the Commercial team within budget.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years pharmaceutical / biotech experience with field sales experience preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in training including field training experience.
  • Experience with the therapeutic area (rare disease and specialty) preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead in a cross-functional and virtual team environment providing direction and guidance to team members.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying internal customer needs and making appropriate recommendations for most effective learning and development solutions.
  • Proven leadership ability including the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to be flexible and energetic in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to build scalable high-impact learning programs to support the fast-moving needs of a growing organization.
  • Energetic, creative, and forward-looking
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with instructional design and virtual learning tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation with large audiences.
  • Strong project team management and communication skills
  • Conceptual understanding of theories, principles, practices, methods, and techniques relevant in the field of applied learning technology
  • Experience managing complex projects and demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Experience in developing or implementing sales force training curricula specific to technology platforms, preferred.
