The Field Strategy & Operations Associate Director is a strategic operational leader embedded within Alnylam's US Field Medical organization. This role drives operational excellence across the field medical team - translating strategic priorities into executable plans, building and optimizing systems, measuring field impact through data and metrics, and enabling the MSL and MOSL organizations to perform at the highest level. This individual brings a combination of field medical fluency, project management rigor, and analytical capability.

Key requirements:

  • Partner with US Field Medical leadership to design, develop, and execute the US Field Medical strategic and tactical plan.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects supporting field medical operations, including program planning, compliance review workflows, and launch readiness.
  • Drive operational excellence across field systems: CRM optimization, onboarding workflows, territory management tools, and medical budget tracking.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and maintenance of performance metrics and KPI dashboards that measure field medical impact and effectiveness.
  • Manage all field medical material submissions through the Medical Review Board (MRB) for compliance approval at regional and national congresses.
  • Oversee field medical onboarding for all new personnel; resolve credentialing, systems access, and distribution list issues.
  • Provide project management support for all US Medical Affairs-led programs including ad boards, speaker programs, and scientific events.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure all field activities, contracts, and needs assessments are appropriately reviewed and approved.
  • Support HEOR research operations and field medical budget development, management, and reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements; benchmark field operations best practices from across the industry.
  • Manage cross-functional resource management including scientific articles, materials for CLM, and tracking of resource expirations to ensure field teams have access to current, approved content. 
  • Apply business acumen to align operational investments and resources with field medical strategic priorities.
  • Applies strategic thinking, scientific fluency, compliant execution, and cross-functional collaboration to align field medical operations with broader medical priorities - enabling the field team to consistently deliver engagement excellence and data-informed outcomes.
 
Qualifications:
  • Advanced professional degree - MD, PhD, PharmD, MBA, Nursing (MSN/DNP), or MPH.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Medical Affairs, field medical, or healthcare operations; prior MSL experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated operational excellence capabilities: process design, workflow optimization, and systems management.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams with accountability and precision.
  • Ability to develop, track, and interpret performance metrics and impact measures; data-driven mindset.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to partner effectively with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Commercial teams.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, data visualization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel up to 20–30% for team meetings, congress support, and leadership events; not a field-facing external role.

U.S. Pay Range

$171,700.00 - $232,300.00

The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
