Overview:

 

The Bioanalytical Sciences group at Alnylam is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join our Bioassay’s (Molecular and Ligand Binding assays) team to help advance novel RNAi therapeutic programs from discovery to the clinic.

This individual will contribute to optimizing and implementing biologically relevant assays to support early through late stage drug development programs using techniques in ligand binding assays (ELISA, MSD, Luminex, Quanterix, ELLA). They will assist in critical reagent characterization, execute assays, and sample analysis to evaluate pharmacodynamic (PD) drug response to advance RNAi therapeutic development. They will have a background in biochemical, pharmaceutical, or biological sciences, hands-on bench skills in molecular techniques, and attention to detail. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team and interact with highly motivated scientists across a broad array of disciplinary expertise areas.

 

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in assay optimization and qualification of ligand binding assays across technologies in biological matrices to support the analysis of drug PD or exploratory biomarkers.
  • Perform non-GLP sample analysis to support all Alnylam’s RNAi therapeutic development from early to late stages
  • Maintain appropriate procedures and controls to ensure consistent assay performance and reproducible data.
  • Manage laboratory notebook, perform data analysis and monitor performance of Quality Controls.
  • Learn in-depth knowledge about the technologies and platforms used to generate results to help troubleshoot, address queries, and present data to diverse groups within Research and Development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and represent bioanalytical sciences.
  • Research and implement new technologies to improve assay performance, quality, and efficiency.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A Master’s degree (0-1 years of molecular bench-work experience) or Bachelor’s degree (2-3 years of molecular bench-work experience) in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or relevant field.
  • Hands-on molecular bench-work experience (ELISAs, Western Blotting, qPCR)
  • Must have experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with other analytical software is a plus (e.g. GraphPad Prism, Softmax, Discovery Workbench).
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a team environment and be comfortable working on multiple projects.
  • Meticulous and diligent at record keeping and organizing experiment files to be readily accessible to the team
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to enable collaboration with cross-functional teams
