As a focused, interdisciplinary team, we are seeking to bring the power of RNA therapeutics to the fight against cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting delivery research efforts to advance Alnylam’s RNA platform across multiple cancer indications.  The ideal candidate will have a background in immuno-oncology and/or cell and gene therapy and molecular and immune-cell based techniques including LNP-mediated transfection, electroporation and multi-color flow cytometry. The role requires the ability to learn new techniques, the capacity to multi-task, and the willingness to collaborate with multiple interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and execute cell and molecular based experiments to evaluate the activity of developmental RNA candidates in relevant in vitro oncology models.
  • Execute immunology-focused cell culture studies and functional assays to support discovery and translational research programs.
  • Perform and optimize LNP-mediated and electroporation-based transfection methods in immune cell systems to enable experimental objectives.
  • Conduct, analyze, and interpret multicolor flow cytometry assays using 10 to 14 color panels for immune profiling and functional characterization.
  • Perform downstream processing and analysis from tissue samples and ex vivo models to support evaluation of target engagement, mechanism of action, and biomarker analysis of RNA therapeutics.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present research findings within a multidisciplinary Oncology team and to the wider organization to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent documentation practices in maintaining electronic lab notebook entries, protocols, data summaries, and technical reports.

Qualifications

  • BS in Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with 2-3 years or MS with 1+ years of experience in industry or academic lab setting.
  • Hands-on experience in the execution of primary immune cell and tumor-immune cell co-culture assays for the characterization of immunomodulatory therapeutics.
  • Experience working with nucleic acid-based approaches (such as RNAi, CRISPR, mRNA, plasmid DNA).
  • Proficiency in molecular and cellular techniques including RT-qPCR, immunofluorescence, multi-color flow cytometry, Incucyte, and ELISA.
  • Experience in accelerating discovery with implementation of high-throughput screening methods is highly desirable.
  • This is an on-site lab-based role; candidates must be comfortable with extensive bench work and collaborative team science.
  • Ability to optimize and perform experiments and summarize results with limited guidance.
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills, open to new tasks and challenges in a fast-paced environment.
