Overview:

 

The Oncology Research group at Alnylam is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join our growing interdisciplinary team aimed at developing RNAi therapeutics against cancer. The successful candidate will be technically skilled in a variety of oncology mouse models with the desire to expand your repertoire. This role requires working closely with all team members to understand the team’s needs to design and conduct diverse experiments, with the flexibility to make changes as needed. The candidate must be motivated, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work on a highly collaborative team.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Engage in investigative RNAi research evaluating siRNA delivery and efficacy to diverse oncology animal models.
  • Develop and perform in vivo and ex vivo studies using molecular and biochemical techniques to characterize distribution and activity of a variety of siRNAs.
  • Willing to learn new techniques to support in vivo studies including subcutaneous and orthotopic implantations.
  • Analyze and interpret data and communicate results to the team.
  • Collaborate with team members to progress drug discovery efforts, contributing to a dynamic, exciting culture that embraces teamwork, innovation, and transparency.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Animal/Veterinary Sciences, Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of research experience in an industrial or academic setting working with mice.
  • Experience in mouse handling, dosing, and tissue collection. Specific experience in oncology models strongly preferred.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA/protein extraction, qPCR, Western blot, ELISA a plus.
  • Proficiency in multiple dosing routes i.e. IP, IV, SC, intratumoral and blood collection (RO or submandibular) preferred.  Intrathecal (IT) and intracerebroventricular (ICV) dosing in mouse a plus.
  • Experience in mammalian tissue culture a plus.
  • Ability to follow SOPs, execute, analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Excellent lab technique and the ability to work independently.
  • Good documentation of all experimental procedures and results.
  • Excellent communicator, team-oriented, and able to handle multiple different experiments at once.
