Overview

The Market Insights Director will partner directly with our Commercial Teams to recommend, plan, and execute market research, in pursuit of a deeper understanding of customers’ attitudes, beliefs and motivations. The Director will synthesize across research studies to provide a concise narrative of opportunities enabling our teams to act. The Director will also play a key role in continuing to progress our goal of discovering authentic, timely and actionable insights (new vendors and methodologies) that drive competitive advantage.

 

Key Responsibilities

The Director will report into the Sr. Director of Market Insights and will collaborate with Customer Insights and Experience teammates to tie together multiple sources of research in the pursuit of better customer understanding and identifying business opportunities. 

 

  • Develop and integrate primary market research within Commercial, including foundational strategic research (e.g., market landscape / patient journey, segmentation / brand positioning / messaging, market access landscape) for international region (Europe and Japan)
  • Design and deliver market research projects that support the growth of key global brands
  • Partner with Advanced Analytics and Data team on other core capabilities such as Data Science and Competitive Intelligence team to inform business strategy
  • Work cross functionally and effectively interface with the Brand Leaders, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Expertise Areas and Countries
  • Act as a strategic partner and collaborate closely with other Insights & Analytics members
  • Respond flexibly and adaptively to the needs of the organization through a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ensure the Company is fully compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), European Market Research Codes of Conduct (EPhMRA) and the Research is fully compliant with Alnylam’s Codes of Conduct (Pharmacovigilance, etc.)
  • Other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • BA / BS degree required
  • 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with minimum 5+ years of market research experience. (e.g. market research manager, marketing, insight lead, vendor-side market research, consulting)
  • Executive presence and the ability to interact and negotiate with C-suite customers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority, able to drive through execution across multiple internal and external cross-functional stakeholders, and foster collaboration and succeed in a highly matrixed environment
  • Broad methodological knowledge of and experience in relevant qual and quant market research approaches and techniques
  • Established track record of using market research results to influence decision-making and drive forward business opportunities.
  • Confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences
  • Ability to understand business process and break down business questions into specific, tangible hypotheses and requirements to guide analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to drive to deadlines, balancing multiple priorities, and ensuring quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills, ability to synthesize data, interpret and translate into compelling and clear research strategies and plans.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think critically, challenge conclusions and underlying assumptions
  • Ability to synthesize multi-source information (qualitative and quantitative) to develop strategic recommendations
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills with strong ability to multi-task and shift focus as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current healthcare and market research trends
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

 

 

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Advanced Scientific Degree
  • Experience in rare disease areas
  • Agency and pharma/biotech industry experience.
  • US and Global expertise
