Overview 

We are actively seeking a Director of Medical Strategy and Operations for our US operations, a strategic role designed to bridge the gap between our US Medical Leadership Team (LT) and commercial counterparts, including the US Commercial LT members. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that US Medical Plans are not only aligned with commercial strategies but are fully integrated and poised for execution. This position involves leading the annual medical strategic planning process, working closely with the US Medical LT and the VP of US Medical to drive the annual  planning process. With a focus on excellence in medical affairs, both in field medical and home office capacities, this role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of medical strategy, operations, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the US medical strategic planning process, ensuring alignment and integration with commercial strategies.
  • Collaborate with the US Medical LT and VP of US Medical to facilitate the annual IP process, setting objectives that align with both global and US-specific goals.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the US Medical LT, providing insights and recommendations to enhance medical affairs strategies, activities and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with commercial counterparts to ensure that medical and commercial strategies are integrated, supporting the overall objectives of the organization.
  • Drive the execution of strategic initiatives, tracking progress and making necessary adjustments to meet strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement operational best practices for the medical affairs team, enhancing productivity and effectiveness.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, working closely with clinical development, regulatory affairs, marketing, and other departments to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives as directed by the VP of US Medical, ensuring that strategic objectives are achieved.

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in medical affairs, with significant experience in both field medical and home office positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute medical strategies and operational plans.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including clinical research, drug development, regulatory environments, and market dynamics.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and drive change.
