Overview

The Executive Director, Field Medical Affairs – US TTR, will serve as the senior-most leader of the U.S. Field Medical team, overseeing both the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) and Health Systems Medical Outcomes Liaison (MOSL) teams. This elevated role reflects our commitment to delivering integrated, high-impact field engagement across scientific leaders and healthcare system stakeholders.

 

This individual will be responsible for shaping and executing a unified, insight-driven comprehensive field strategy that supports the entire U.S. TTR portfolio. A central responsibility includes leading the development and execution of the overarching U.S. KOL and Health Systems Engagement Plan, in close collaboration with Medical Directors, Strategic Accounts and Market Access colleagues.

 

The Executive Director will also be accountable for leading, developing, and coaching the national Field Director team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and strategically aligned field force.

 

This position is a US-Field based position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Field Medical Leadership

  • Serve as the senior field leader for the U.S. TTR franchise, responsible for setting the vision and direction of the MSL and MOSL teams.
  • Lead the design and execution of the integrated U.S. KOL and Health Systems Engagement Plan, ensuring coordinated and insight-driven interactions across academic leaders, community HCPs and IDN clinical executives.
  • Partner with U.S. Medical Affairs, Global Medical, Commercial, Strategic Accounts and Market Access to ensure alignment of field activities with medical strategy and business priorities.
  • Ensure high-quality scientific exchange, insight generation, and evidence-based support for healthcare decision-makers across all phases of the product lifecycle.

Field Director Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage the national Field Director team, providing leadership coaching, strategic guidance, and performance management.
  • Establish and monitor clear KPIs for field team performance, medical impact, stakeholder engagement, and insight generation.
  • Drive a culture of collaboration, scientific rigor, accountability, and development across all levels of the field organization.
  • Lead succession planning and talent development, ensuring the field leadership bench is prepared to scale with the needs of the business.

Cross-functional Engagement & Medical Affairs Integration

  • Serve as a key member of the U.S. Medical Affairs Leadership Team, ensuring field medical strategy is tightly integrated with in-house efforts.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors to ensure alignment of scientific content and engagement planning.
  • Partner with cross functional colleagues to ensure integration of the MOSLs in organized customer strategy and population health discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and applicable regulatory requirements across all field activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree required: PharmD, MD, or PhD.
  • 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with a proven track second second-line field medical leadership (e.g., managing Field Directors or national teams) in a US medical affairs organization. 
  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex field organizations in the U.S. and in house US medical affairs experience.
  • Strong track record of developing and operationalizing strategic engagement plans with KOLs and organized healthcare systems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally within matrixed organizations, including in-house Medical Affairs strategic accounts, marketing, and Market Access.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape, payer systems, and the evolving role of field medical in supporting value-based care.
  • Strong communicator with executive presence and the ability to influence at all levels.
