Overview

Alnylam Research post-doc program is designed to advance RNAi research with fresh perspectives and ideas from recent PhDs and thrive in vibrant research environment at Alnylam. Postdoc fellows will be provided the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues working in diverse disciplines including bioinformatics, RNAi lead discovery, oncology, RNAi biology, target discovery, and clinical development.  They will be provided necessary budgetary support and infrastructure to execute the projects. In addition, postdocs are encouraged to participate at scientific conferences, collaborate with external partners as appropriate and publish high impact papers.

The Research department at Alnylam is seeking a passionate post-doctoral fellow to join our LC/MS-based engineering group dedicated to preclinical target validation, biomarker discovery, and biophysical modeling to support novel delivery solutions for our RNAi therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical foundation in mass spectrometry to develop state-of-the-art workflows in spatial and single-cell proteomics. He/She will also have a background in computational modeling to apply AI/ML algorithms for protein structure and function prediction spanning preclinical model species and human. It is expected that the research conducted by the postdoctoral fellow will result in multiple high impact publications after filing appropriate patents and contribute to the Alnylam pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the installation of new LC/MS instrumentation and method development for novel experimental workflows, including spatial and single-cell proteomics
  • Provide timely tissue untargeted proteomics semi-quantitative analysis to support RNAi delivery efforts for key stakeholders in Alnylam’s Platform group.
  • Apply theoretical modeling of protein structure/function prediction algorithms along with experimental data from various tissue samples to prepare manuscripts for high impact publications in proteomics research.

Qualifications

  • Recent PhD in Chemical/Biological Engineering or an equivalent quantitative degree
  • Expertise computational biology and fluency in Python/Matlab/R.
  • Must be flexible to be able to apply her/his knowledge to new areas of study, thrive in a team environment, and possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral)

Alnylam’s Postdoctoral Program

  • Postdoctoral fellowships are 2 years in length with the possibility to extend for a third year
  • Postdocs are encouraged to attend company meetings and will have broad exposure to RNAi drug discovery and development efforts within the company
  • Alnylam provides a scientifically rigorous environment and postdocs will have opportunities to present their work regularly within the company while also being supported to attend and speak at external conferences
  • Publication of work in high impact journals is expected after filling appropriate patents and internal reviews
