Overview

 

The Bioanalytical Sciences group at Alnylam is seeking a highly motivated Principal Associate Scientist, specializing in molecular PCR-based assays to join our team to help advance novel RNAi therapeutic programs from discovery to the clinic.

 

This individual will assist in assay optimization and implementation, and support sample analysis across various biological matrices to support early through late stage drug development programs.

 

This role requires strong attention to detail, with excellent  molecular biology and bench skills, and strong interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with multiple project teams to provide bioanalytical support. This individual would thrive in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment. This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Implement gene expression assays to inform target engagement in biological matrices using techniques such as RT-qPCR or dPCR.
  • Evaluate and implement fit-for-purpose automated RNA extraction methods to improve consistency and performance of gene expression assays.
  • In support of program priorities, perform non-GLP sample analysis for emerging and established tissues to support all of Alnylam’s RNAi therapeutic development from early to late stages.
  • Design, troubleshoot and interpret experiments.
  • Help implement and maintain appropriate procedures and controls to ensure consistent assay performance and reproducible data.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks, perform data analysis and QC, and communicate results to matrixed teams to support program advancement.
  • Collaborate with team members to expand capabilities and improve workflows for molecular analysis and data reporting.

 

Qualifications

 

  • A Master’s degree (6+ years of relevant industry experience) or Bachelor’s degree (8+ years of relevant industry experience) in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or relevant field.
  • Excellent lab technique and previous experience to perform PCR-based molecular assays, and ability to work independently.
  • Has experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other analytical software (e.g. GraphPad Prism, QuantStudio).
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to thrive in a team environment and be comfortable working on and prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills to enable collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with biological matrices across preclinical species is strongly preferred.

A quick learner with proven ability to perform in a fast paced working environment.

U.S. Pay Range

$97,300.00 - $137,100.00

The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
