Overview

 

The Investigative Sciences group within Early Development is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will support a variety of investigative, cell and molecular mechanism-based research efforts to evaluate target pharmacology, nonclinical safety, and advance Alnylam’s RNAi platform across liver, CNS, and other tissues.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to study design and execution of in vivo experiments to characterize preclinical pharmacology and safety and address novel platform questions across multiple tissues/therapeutic areas
  • Perform ex vivo assays, including but not limited to qPCR and ELISA, to support in vivo studies
  • Analyze, collate and interpret data for reports and presentations to cross-functional groups
  • Collaboratively interact with other scientists to accomplish cross-disciplinary objectives
  • Maintain excellent experimental records in an Electronic Lab Notebook

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum B.S. degree in a life sciences-related discipline such as Physiology, Cell/Molecular Biology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of post-degree experience executing in vivo and ex vivo experiments in an industrial or academic setting
  • Experience handling rodents (mouse, rat) and performing dosing (IP, SC) and tissue harvesting/necropsy
  • Proficiency performing molecular biology techniques (including nucleic acid purification and RT-qPCR) and biochemistry techniques (ELISA, Western blot)
  • Experience with methods and models for metabolic assessment in mouse is a plus
  • Experience with fluorescence and/or bioluminescence imaging is a plus
  • Ability to design experiments with an understanding of underlying scientific principles and independently analyze results
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills, open to new tasks and challenges
