Overview
Reporting to the Head of Standards, Process & Training – Clinical Development, the Sr. Manager – Training & Knowledge Management serves as a GCP area training and knowledge management Subject Matter Expert (SME). The Sr. Manager of Training and Knowledge Management develops, delivers and assesses training and knowledge management programs that improve performance and compliance across Clinical Development to support the success of our clinical trials.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Standards, Process and Training (SP&T) and Clinical Development Process and System SMEs to address training and knowledge management needs and develop effective training plans and materials to support end-user understanding and adoption. Continuously assess and improve knowledge management and training strategies, tools, materials and curricula to support effective learning.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting a continuous learning culture and mindset within Clinical Development
- Partnering with Clinical Development leaders to identify employee competency needs, in alignment with goals and responsibilities, and design, assess and maintain Expertise Area (EA) and role-based onboarding plans, curricula and materials
- Maintaining and continuously improving knowledge management areas
- Partnering with Process and System SMEs and Process Excellence to identify end-user knowledge and training needs and tailor solutions accordingly (e.g. just-in-time)
- Ensuring training strategies and materials are effective, scalable and durable
- Developing and maintaining targeted, role-based training curricula in collaboration with Process SMEs and the Learning Management System (LMS) team
- Partnering to ensure effective study-training curricula and ongoing oversight
- Surveilling and continuously improving training methods and effectiveness
- Regularly reporting on training plans and outcomes to SP&T and EA leaders
- Ensuring training information and knowledge areas remain current with GCP, regulatory and process or system information
- Leveraging strategies and technologies to reduce training burden and increase training effectiveness
- Developing and delivering knowledge reminders and checks in collaboration with Inspection Readiness SMEs and Quality Assurance
- Implementing adult learning principles to effectively educate adults with different backgrounds and learning styles
- Assessing the effectiveness of training and knowledge management strategies and continuously improving
- Leveraging industry trends (e.g. AI) and internal and external resources to continuously improve how we effectively deliver engaging knowledge to Clinical Development
- Representing Standards, Process and Training and serving as a Training and Knowledge Management SME by leading or participating in working groups and initiatives that drive the healthy conduct of clinical trials and help the business scale for the future
Qualifications
- University degree in Science and/or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 4+ years experience in a Training role at a biopharmaceutical company and/or CRO including:
- Knowledge management strategies and solutions
- Instructor led training
- eLearning and other digital or AI training solutions
- LMS and ILT curricula development and maintenance
- ADDIE model of instructional design
- Knowledge of GCP, global regulatory and compliance requirements for clinical trials
- Knowledge of industry trends for effective training development and delivery
- Knowledge of managing within LMS systems
- Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate and manage high performing colleagues across areas to deliver
- Ability to effectively influence and deliver in a matrix environment
- Ability to execute work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to respond to change with agility, resilience, innovation, and optimism, seeking solutions based on creative problem solving, lessons learned and well-reasoned risk taking
- Detail oriented & possess technical expertise
- Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and analytical skills
- Able to accommodate limited travel (may include international travel) according to business need (~10%)
