Overview

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Head of Corporate Brand and Creative, the Social Media Manager will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team developing digital, social media and brand communications for an innovative global biopharmaceutical company. From concept through execution, the Manager will help develop social media plans and social media content that bring our corporate brand and key messages to life across our social media channels, paid social advertising and other audience touchpoints. Corporate Brand and Creative sits within a high-performing, high-energy, fun and collaborative Corporate Communications team.

  • Be responsible for managing creative and technical delivery of social media projects and channels

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional group of Alnylam stakeholders globally

  • Be a steward of the Alnylam Corporate Brand, brand guidelines and social media standards
  • Function as a liaison and ambassador of the Corporate Communications team within Alnylam

The ideal candidate will have previously worked in a fast-paced corporate communications or agency environment and embrace the opportunity to be part of a growing biopharma at an exciting point in its history. They will have experience working with a senior brand and communications leader to co-develop strategies that meet business needs and take advantage of market opportunities. They will have been directly responsible for day-to-day social media content creation for multiple channels (Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) and developing and managing social media editorial calendars. They will possess the creativity, flexibility and the project management capabilities necessary to play a central role on the Corporate Brand and Creative team. They will understand the delicate nature social media in a regulated industry and relish the opportunity to innovate and be creative within that environment.

This position is hybrid and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Sr. Director to identify social media needs, manage resources and prioritize work
  • Manage master Social Media Editorial calendar coordinating with internal social media stakeholders across expertise areas (PR, Commercial, HR/Talent Acquisition, etc.) as well as agencies that support them
  • Develop Corporate and Disease Awareness content for and co-manage Alnylam’s social media channels on a day-to-day basis including maintenance, publishing, monitoring, issues escalation and engagement
  • Design, implement, manage and measure targeted paid social media programs on Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other internal social media stakeholders on development of content to be used in social media, providing the social media perspective (best practices, Alnylam standards, regulatory and legal standards, etc.)
  • Produce dashboards and measurement reports for social media performance
  • Perform light social media content design work using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Perform social listening and competitive analysis, to identify trends and influencers
  • Manage financial aspects of social media-related vendor engagements including SOWs, POs and Invoicing

Qualifications

  • BA/BS with PR/Marketing/Communications/Journalism degree/background required with 3-5 years proven work experience in-house or at an agency with prior experience developing, managing and measuring social media
  • Experience in pharma/biotech, medical devices, diagnostics or healthcare and familiarity with U.S. social media regulatory considerations for Corporate social media content is required
  • Proficient and compelling social media writer with the ability to target content to applicable audiences
  • Ability to do light design work including creating static images/graphics, retouching photos, and edits to videos for social media is required; proficiency using Photoshop, Illustrator, and video editing software such as Adobe Premier is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in publishing organic content natively through Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook required and experience running paid campaigns natively through those channels is required
  • Experience developing paid social media strategies and managing ad accounts including Meta and LinkedIn is required
  • Experience using social media management tools (ex. Sprinklr, Spreadfast, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.) and social listening tool (Raidan6, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, etc.) preferred
  • Experience measuring and reporting on social media performance is required; Experience using Google Analytics is preferred
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple of projects simultaneously 
  • Fantastic internal and external communication/people skills
  • Resourceful and proactive with the ability to troubleshoot and set priorities
  • Willingness to work in a fast-moving, dynamic, and team-oriented environment
