Overview

 

Reporting to the Vice President, U.S. Market Access we seek an experienced and focused individual to manage and evolve Alnylam’s distribution channel from the 3PL downstream, for all US channels.  The primary objective of this role is to ensure the rapid and convenient distribution of Alnylam drug products to healthcare providers (HCPs) and patients.  The Senior Director, Channel Distribution is a key leader in the successful commercialization of Alynlam’s portfolio of medicines.  This individual sets strategic imperatives, leads our channel account management and operations teams, and ensures that the patient experience is maximized with Alnylam’s channel partners.  This role requires close collaboration with leaders in Product Supply, Patient Services, Commercial Leadership, Field Reimbursement, and other critical functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee distribution operations, ensuring Alynlam products reach HCPs and patients in a timely and convenient manner
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and contractual agreements with channel partners
  • Lead strategic and tactical planning for all channel activities
  • Work closely with US Patient Services to ensure seamless integration of Specialty Pharmacy and Specialty Distribution partners into hub services
  • Lead Channel Account Management team focused on maximizing the patient experience with channel partners
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and other customer facing meetings to ensure that patients are receiving excellent service levels and fully benefit from Alnylam customer initiatives
  • Manage, in collaboration with internal stakeholders, distribution policies and procedures including but not limited to orders, returns and inventory
  • Collaborate with Alnylam Legal and Contracting to negotiate agreements and to ensure all relevant state licenses are current
  • Work with Alnylam field personnel to provide key distribution channel analytics in the form of regular, actionable reports. Train field personnel on distribution strategy and programs
  • Manage KPIs and reporting dashboards to track critical distribution metrics for launch and beyond
  • Scale and refine the distribution strategy, over time, as appropriate with any future approved indication(s) and/or sites of care.
  • Help set the overall U.S. Market Access strategy and ensure successful execution as a member of the U.S. Market Access Leadership team
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate policies and industry codes in collaboration with Alnylam Legal, Regulatory and Compliance

 

Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical/biotech experience required
  • 10+ yrs. of direct involvement in distribution operations and managing trade partners. Strong understanding of reimbursement dynamics are required.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience including hiring account management and operations team members
  • Deep knowledge of US pharmaceutical channel dynamics, payer coverage and reimbursement environment, government policies pertaining to price reporting obligations, and contracting strategies
  • Market Access Leadership Team experience preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, professional communications, problem-solving, compassion and the ability to influence decision-making without direct authority
  • Ability to work well and lead within with cross-functional groups and in a matrix organization
  • Desire to innovate and work in a fast-paced, energetic environment
  • Self-starter who is highly passionate about rare disease and Alnylam’s core values:

  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA preferred
