Overview
The Sr. Manager of R&D Finance is a key member of Alnylam’s Financial Planning and Analysis team, partnering with leaders across the organization. The primary focus of this role is providing strategic finance business partnership to the Research & Early Development organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide finance business partnering support to the Research & Early Development functions and their respective leadership teams. Support will include financial oversight of actual spend vs. budget, reforecasting, annual budgeting and long-range planning.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to influence decision making and planning processes through understanding of cost drivers and risks/opportunities
- Support broader R&D finance team deliverables including consolidation and reporting for R&D functions and programs
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc presentations for a variety of internal and external stakeholders including executive-level audiences.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop or improve existing processes and reporting, successfully implement changes where appropriate.
- Work closely with other members of the broader Finance organization to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processes.
- Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as required to support the broader R&D Finance team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant financial experience (e.g. Corporate Finance, FP&A, Accounting) or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in biotech / pharma industry, R&D experience strongly preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles, as well as strong financial analysis and data interpretation skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans.
- Able to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines
- Highly proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SAP and Adaptive Planning System a plus.
