The Vice President, TTR Disease Area Lead will report to the Head of Medical Affairs and will be a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT). They will be the owner of the TTR medical plan and responsible for its strategic definition and executional pull through of all aspects of the plan. This includes evidence generation, publication and communication, congress, and KOL engagement plans. The Vice President, TTR Disease Area Lead will also be an expert point of contact for the program team and will work closely with the TTR program team, the Value and Evidence Strategy team (VESt), and Commercial leads. They will also be an expert point of contact for the KOL community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and scientific leadership to the TTR program team by leading the development of the medical strategy
  • Partner with the TTR Disease Area Commercial Lead
  • From a medical perspective, define the value proposition of the most appropriate approach to the market
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development and Value and Evidence Strategy team to provide medical affairs input to pivotal study design and data generation
    • Partner with Value & Evidence Strategy and Access to explore registries, databases, and other Real World data sources for patient journey, unmet needs
    • Build medical specific strategies to drive disease awareness and market development efforts
  • Partner with the Medical Communications team to ensure timely communication of scientific data (publication and medical congress)
  • Lead the development of a KOL identification and early engagement plans to understand practice perspectives and guideline gaps
  • Partner with the Medical Training team to develop and deliver high quality scientific and skill-based training to the medical team across regions
  • Represent Medical Affairs at appropriate leadership and development forums, and externally with societies and KOLs

 

Qualifications

  • MD, PhD in life sciences, or PharmD
  • 14+ years of demonstrated high-level professional knowledge and skills in the areas of medical affairs, especially familiarity with clinical development, in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • 5+ years experience leading medical affairs teams
  • High level of commercial and business knowledge and ability to work in a competitive environment
  • Demonstrated experience in working across several therapeutic areas - experience in cardiology a plus
  • Ability to have peer-to-peer level conversations with KOLs
  • Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry and evidence generation with an understanding of key regulatory bodies
  • High degree of professionalism, maturity, and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated reputation as a well-respected, dynamic team leader, and player-coach
  • Ability to deliver on company global program goals and objectives as they pertain to medical affairs
  • Ability to affect positive organizational change at the company and team levels
