Overview
Alnylam is seeking to hire an experienced, driven and innovative Market Access professional with a strong focus on regional market access activities in Germany. Ideally this position will be 2x days based out of our Munich office or virtual. This role will report to the Director Market Access DACH.
The role will work closely with other company expertise areas and with the German Medical and Commercial Field Teams. The candidate should bring a high level of experience in market access-relevant activities and strong interactions with payers and HCP associations. The role will drive projects to optimize the current positioning of Alnylam’s portfolio and develop and implement engagement strategies for regional/local stakeholders and a contract framework in line with Alnylam’s national and regional plans. This role will bring concrete deliverables to the German Field Teams and HCPs to ensure an excellent understanding of the prescription pathways for Alnylam products in Germany.

Key Responsibilities
- Cross-functionally cooperates with all Field Teams (Medical and Commercial) and the Medical and Commercial Leads to address any access barriers for the benefit of the patients
- Acts as the contact point for case-by-case reimbursement and NUB implementation
- Educates and trains the German Field Teams on market access and health policy when needed
- Designs and implements efficient and targeted processes and procedures to support business activities and market access requirements, ensuring these are followed by respective internal teams and other stakeholders
- Manages vendors and partners to execute the tactics agreed with the Director Market Access DACH, and manages budget appropriately
- For German market access activities, acts as a backup for the Director Market Access DACH during vacations and other leaves of absence, as required by the business
- While keeping a strong focus on operational work in Germany, contributes to the international market access work as part of the International Market Access Team
- Monitors and analyses regional market conditions (access barriers, opportunities, competition) and develops and executes tailored regional market access and contracting strategies
- Identifies and segments regional/local stakeholders (e.g., decision-makers and opinion leaders at health insurance companies, associations of statutory health insurance physicians, hospital pharmacists)
- Establishes and expands resilient relationships with relevant stakeholders and with customers, with the aim of forming strategic partnerships
- Develops, in close alignment with the Director Market Access DACH, regional business plans for the implementation of market access-relevant activities, including RWE and insight generation
- Supports the development and execution of access strategies at the national level when needed
Qualifications
- Degree (MSc, PhD or PharmD) in Health Economics, Health Research or in a Pharmaceutical, Biological or Life Sciences subject or a relevant related discipline
- 7+ years previous experience in a similar role in a pharmaceutical or biotech company
- Deep knowledge of the healthcare system and reimbursement mechanisms in Germany; knowledge of the cardiology market is a plus
- Previous market access experience with a proven track record to successfully lead regional market access-related activities, including strong relationships with regional stakeholders in Germany, e.g., sick funds and regional associations of statutory health insurance physicians
- Experience in delivering field market access materials and initiatives supporting the field activities and addressing regional access barriers pragmatically and compliantly for the benefit of the patients
- Proven track record in successful completion of complex projects involving multiple cross-functional internal and external stakeholders at different organizational levels
- Business fluency in both written and oral German and English is essential
- Pronounced customer focus with excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, with the ability and willingness to switch between strategic and operational level of working
- Sense of urgency and strong learning agility and ability to engage across multiple disease areas in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough understanding and applying high business ethics and legal/compliance standards
- Willingness to travel frequently, as the business requires
