Overview
Alnylam is recruiting an experienced and innovative leader to strengthen its Market Access function across International Markets, with a primary focus on France. This role reports to the Market Access, Pricing and Policy Lead for International Markets. Market Access is a strategic priority for Alnylam, focused on securing and maintaining appropriate pricing and access by demonstrating value for patients, health systems and society. The Director, Market Access International is expected to shape strategy, execute locally, and work cross‑functionally with functions such as Medical Affairs, Finance and Country Managers.
While the role has a strong in-country execution and strategy remit for France, it is also part of the International Market Access team and will contribute to selected cross-market and regional initiatives as business needs evolve and collaborate with regional and global functions. This position is hybrid onsite and will be primarily located at our Paris office.
The position spans four key domains:
- Pricing
- Health economics
- Health policy
- Local market access execution
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in market access processes in France and depth in at least one of the four domains. The role offers a rare opportunity to help shape regional and global strategies while engaging directly with payers and stakeholders across multiple countries. The environment is fast‑paced, hands‑on, and typical of an emerging biotech with global ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- In collaboration with Country Managers, lead and own the local pricing and reimbursement procedures in France.
- Optimize pricing and access strategies for France, while ensuring they are aligned with regional and overall enterprise priorities.
- Lead the development and execution of market access strategy for France at both national and sub-national level, as applicable.
- In collaboration with Country Managers, develops and implements the policy strategy and represents the company within relevant committees and working groups.
- Provides support to the Finance Department in monitoring and managing tax-related or rebate-related mechanisms (including, as applicable, safeguard clauses, payback and similar frameworks).
- Coach others as needed for execution of country strategies, and directly engage external authorities as needed.
- Support the execution of International Market Access goals, including pricing targets, revenue targets, access timelines, and overall launch success for the International Region
- Based on insights, develop pricing and access strategies incorporating additional evidence needs, value proposition beyond the drug, managed entry schemes and other agreements
- Contribute to selected cross-country, regional and ad hoc International projects to support the border International Market Access, Pricing and Policy agenda
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Market Access, Pricing and Reimbursement within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with proven exposure to regional or multi-country responsibilities.
- Masters’s degree, or PhD in science and/or economics preferred. MBA is a plus.
- Possess deep country level understanding of payer needs, decision-making approaches, strategies, and country reimbursement stakeholders and influence map within France.
- Hands-on experience with country pricing negotiations within France; broadly, demonstrated knowledge of pricing trends, tactics, and payer dynamics across the International Region (ex-US, including Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia)
- Fluency in both written and oral English and French is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge across multiple core market access domains (Pricing, HEOR, policy, local market execution)
- Demonstrated experience supporting the regional launch of innovative therapies
- First-rate emotional intelligence; ability to manage ambiguity, frequent change and senior level engagements; ability to confidently seek out help when needed
- Strong strategic, tactical and operational skills, with the ability and willingness to switch between strategic and operational level of working
- Strong learning agility and ability to engage in-depth across multiple disease areas
- Clear ability to work across cultures, languages, and geographies and willingness travel frequently, as the business requires
- Experience and proven success working with cross-functional teams across geographies
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple activities (both “self” and through delegation) and working in a fast-paced environment
- Line management experience is a plus; this role may coach or coordinate others as needed in support of country and regional priorities
