Overview
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Ethics & Compliance – Partner & Emerging Markets (P&EM) to help lead and oversee key elements of Alnylam’s Global Compliance Program. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Corporate Functions, Technical Operations & Quality (TOQ), and Partner & Emerging Markets (P&EM), Ethics & Compliance, this role serves as the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Business Partner for Alnylam Brazil and the LATAM cluster, while also supporting compliance administrative and operational activities across P&EM.
As a member of the Alnylam Brazil Leadership Team, you will work closely with leaders across the P&EM extended leadership team, internal stakeholders, and Distributor Partners to strengthen and advance a best-in-class Ethics & Compliance framework. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and oversight of compliance policies, procedures, systems, tools, and monitoring activities, helping to identify and mitigate risk while enhancing the effectiveness of Alnylam’s Global Compliance Program across Partner & Emerging Markets.

This role is hyrbid based in our Sao Paulo office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compliance guidance and counseling to the business and stakeholders on traditional and novel business activities and associated risks, and relevant compliance policies and processes in accordance with laws, regulations, industry guidance, and trends;
- Support administrative and operational aspects of the Ethics & Compliance program in P&EM;
- Draft compliance policies and procedures and related guidance, and design and implement processes and tools to ensure consistent application of Alnylam’s Global Compliance Program in accordance with local laws and regulations, and aligned with Alnylam’s global standards;
- Act as the dedicated E&C Business Partner for Alnylam Brazil and LATAM cluster and support the Senior Director, Global Corporate Functions, TOQ, and P&EM, in governance, monitoring and risk assessment related to P&EM;
- Actively participate on the Alnylam Brazil LT and contribute to other leadership teams, as necessary;
- Foster a data protection culture within the organization and to help implement essential elements of data protection laws and regulations applicable in Brazil and LATAM;
- Support the implementation and maintenance of affiliate transparency reporting requirements and assist business leadership in meeting reporting obligations;
- Develop and ensure appropriate training, communication, and direction as it relates to Alnylam’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Alnylam’s Core Values, and other applicable policies, procedures and guidance;
- Participate in Global Ethics & Compliance team meetings, including in-person team meetings and monthly team meetings, as required;
- Assist in implementation and execution of risk based third party due diligence;
- Execute routine and risk based monitoring and auditing of relevant business activities and related policies and procedures; identify potential areas of ethics, compliance and data privacy vulnerability and risk; assist in and oversee the implementation of corrective action plans as necessary; and generate reports on monitoring, auditing and risk assessment;
- Support investigations into allegations of misconduct, as required;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Global Ethics & Compliance organization on projects and assignments, as needed.
- Participate in relevant industry associations and compliance benchmarking groups; and
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time at the company’s discretion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Legal degree is preferred;
- Minimum 8 years of ethics, compliance and/or legal experience in an organization subject to biopharmaceutical, medical device or other relevant healthcare compliance laws and regulations;
- Knowledge and familiarity with relevant foreign laws, regulations, and guidelines (e.g,. U.K. Bribery Act, U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, IFPMA Guidelines);
- Experience and familiarity with data privacy legislation and transparency reporting requirements;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team environment with a wide variety of company personnel, and across the broader organization;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to flourish in a fast-paced and high energy environment;
- Ability to work independently and to manage and oversee projects and assignments;
- Abitlity to thrive in a proactive ethical culture in which compliance and business objectives are mutually reinforcing;
- Demonstrate a strong motivation and ability to champion a comprehensive compliance program that is integrated within the Company’s business and culture, consistent with Alnylam’s Core Values;
- Ability to think strategically with an enterprise mindset, be innovative, and find practical solutions working together with business stakeholders and leaders, as necessary; and
- Excellent organization, communication (verbal and written fluency in English and Portuguese (required) and prioritization skills, including the ability to communicate concisely, to integrate legal and business considerations, and to provide balanced advice regarding potential compliance risks;
- Strong commitment to ethics and integrity in all aspects of their work and
- Travel will be required on occasion to Alnylam offices in the U.S. and overseas.
