We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Congresses & Events Planning – International Region to lead the end-to-end delivery of Alnylam congresses and events within the TTR Amyloidosis and Rare Business Unit across international markets. In this highly visible position, as a representative of the International Business Operations team, the successful candidate will join the Alnylam Congress & Events Management Team to plan, organize, and execute international congresses, standalone meetings, and internal events. Reporting to the Director, Meetings Management, the successful candidate will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and ensuring seamless execution of strategic events during a 12-month assignment.

This role is part time (60%), hybrid and will be based in Zug, Switzerland with regular presence in our office to foster collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with regional and global cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Marketing, Compliance, Legal, etc.) to develop detailed plans, including objectives, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and success metrics.
  • Partner with logistics vendors to manage all meeting/congress requirements, including strategic planning, venue sourcing, sponsorship contracts, exhibition, production, materials, lead generation, symposia, delegate management, AV, and F&B.
  • Act as the primary project contact for congress organizers.
  • Deliver high-quality experiences for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and support strategic business objectives through effective event management.
  • Ensure adherence to industry compliance rules, regulations and company SOPs.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Assist the Congress & Events Team with administrative tasks related to finance, compliance, and internal communications.
  • Actively contribute to process and service improvements within the team.

                      

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Events and Meetings Management (or related field).
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in event management; experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical or healthcare sector strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale international congresses and events.

 

  • Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Hands-on experience with Cvent Event Management software is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry compliance requirements.
  • Language & Mobility
  • Fluent in English; an additional language is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% within Europe (pro rata).
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid model and a matrix environment.
